☕ Buy Me a Coffee[?] What does this mean in practice?
Bitcoin mining is a memoryless lottery. The numbers above are mathematical averages based on current network difficulty, not a definitive countdown clock.
- The Timer: Represents the average expected time to find a block if the pool's hashrate stays perfectly steady. Because a block can drop at any second, the pool could hit one tonight or take twice as long as the timer states.
- The 24h/7d Chances: Every single 10-minute block interval is an independent roll of the dice. Over a full day (144 blocks) or week (1008 blocks), these compounded percentages show the actual statistical probability of a Parasite Pool win.
- Variance: The small fluctuations you see in the hashrate mimic real-world miners connecting and disconnecting their hardware (like Bitaxes or larger ASICs).
- Heat Score: A snapshot based on fixed thresholds for the 24h-chance. To avoid reacting to a single noisy reading, it tracks a short rolling average of the pool's and network's hashrate, and only recalculates when that average shifts by more than 5% since the last snapshot — so a real trend moves it, but a one-off blip won't.
- Status Light: The dot next to "Detected Pool Hashrate" shows the data source at a glance — green means live data from parasite.space, orange means the live source is unreachable and a simulated fallback value is shown instead, and red means no data has loaded at all (e.g. on first page load, or a total failure).
